The Zoning Board of Appeals is the judicial branch of the Township
in regard to Zoning. This Board hears and rules on zoning variance requests
for either area or use variances. The Board can hear and rule on an appeal
of an alleged error by the Zoning Inspector.
The Board also grants conditional zoning certificates for the use of land.
Members serve a five (5) year term with a new seat opening each year.
If you would like to serve on a Zoning Board - Applications
are taken in the month of October. Send a letter and/or a resume to the
Trustees expressing your interest. Interviews occur in November and December and appointments
are generally made at one of the first organizational board meetings in
January.

Brian Stewart
Mr. Stewart was re-appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals
and elected Chairman in January 2005. He is serving a 5 year term
that expires in December of 2009. Brian and his wife Michelle
and daughters Larrin & Lindsey have live in Auburn since 1996.
Mr. Steward is a 1979 graduate of Kenston High School.

Professionally, Brian is a Project Consultant with R.V. Buric Construction
Management Consultants, Inc. and he brings with him over 26 years experience
in the construction industry. He enjoys working with the other board members
while giving something back to the Auburn Community. His objective is
to offer a fair interpretation and application of the Zoning Resolution,
which in turn will help maintain the rural atmosphere of Auburn Township.

Lewis
Tomsic
Vice Chairman
A graduate of Euclid High School, Lewis Tomsic
served in the United States Air Force from 1965 through 1969.
He moved to Auburn Township in 1973. He and his wife, Deborah
Graehling Tomsic, have four children. Three of their children
live in Geauga County and one resides in Chicago. Lewis is the
CEO of Auburn Bainbridge Excavating Inc. and Advanced Aeration,
both companies based in Newbury, Ohio.

| Kevin G.
Graham
Kevin has lived in Auburn Township for five
years with his wife, Laura, and three children who attend Kenston
Schools. He is a Sales Manager for Lesco, Inc. for the past 17 years.
Kevin graduated from Kent State university with a degree in Marketing.
He looks forward to serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals to help
preserve the rural flair that Auburn has to offer while enforcing
regulations the Township needs to meet the requirements of our growing
community. He is a member of the Church of Holy Angels. |

Robert V. Freebairn
Robert has been a Geauga County resident and business owner for
more than 35 years. He is a native of Philadelphia, PA and a graduate
of Penn State College of Education. Mr. Feebairn is a member of
Leadership Geauga County, class of 1997 and has served on the Board
of the Ravenwood Mental Health Center. Robert is married, has three
children and six grandchildren. |

Fred May
Alternate #1
Fred grew up in Auburn Township and is a Kenston graduate. He moved back to Auburn four years ago from South Euclid, Ohio. He now lives with his wife and two children in the old family farmhouse that has been in his family for several generations. Fred is an attorney with a local practice and his wife is a partner in Auburn’s first licensed daycare facility. He is a graduate of Ohio University and the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. After living for several years in urban suburbs like South Euclid and Cleveland Heights, Mr. May now truly appreciates the rural amenities that Auburn offers, such as peace and quiet and plenty of room to run and play with his family.
