The Township relies on the resident's eyes to help maintain our road
infrastructure. If a problem exists or develops, please do not hesitate
to contact the Road Department or Service Garage, located at 17666 Auburn
Road.
The office phone number is 543-8366.
Auburn Township maintains 52 miles of roads. In addition to snow plowing,
you will see the road department doing the culvert and ditching work.
The Township Equipment List includes five plowing trucks, two tractor/mowers
- one mows roadsides and the other helps maintain township grounds, two
backhoes, and a road grader in addition to chainsaws, trimmers, a generator,
torches, saws, welders, assorted hand and mechanical tools. Equipment
for maintaining asphalt includes a roller, compactor, saw and related
tools. Auburn does a great deal of its own maintenance thanks to a dedicated
and efficient road department crew.
Your residential property legally extends from the centerline of the
road in front of your house or property. An easement exists generally
from the centerline of the road or street back to the telephone pole line.
The Township maintains the drainage ditches along the roadside in that
easement. The purpose of the ditch is to drain the bottom of the roadbed
in order to maintain the road. Therefore, residents are encouraged to
keep the ditch area free of large stones, fences, trees, and other obstructions.
Obstructions in this road right of way may need to be removed for road
maintenance or safety issues.
